Permanent Makeup page title

Permanent cosmetic makeup is cosmetic tattooing. The specialized techniques used for permanent cosmetics are often referred to as "micropigmentation", "micropigment implantation" or "dermagraphics". The cosmetic implantation technique deposits colored pigment into the upper reticular layer of the dermis. This procedure is performed in our surgical office where sterile protocols are strictly followed.

Who can benefit from Permanent Cosmetics?
EVERYONE, from the young to the elderly, who desires a soft, natural enhancement to their appearance. It is especially beneficial to people who can’t wear other cosmetics due to allergies and skin sensitivities; Active people who want to look their best for activities such as swimming, hiking, biking, tennis, aerobics, and those who don't want to worry about "sweating off" or reapplying cosmetics. Also the vision impaired who have difficulty applying their cosmetics, and others with motor impairments such as arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke survivors, and those with unsteady hands who cannot apply their own makeup, and busy people who don’t have time to spend on their makeup. Permanent cosmetics are also used for the final stage of breast reconstruction for areola pigmentation.

During your procedure
At your procedure appointment, steps are taken to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Although everyone's tolerance to minor discomfort is different, most clients agree permanent cosmetic procedures are far more comfortable than anticipated. We use a prescription strength topical anesthetic. The time required for anesthetics to become effective varies but a thirty minute wait time is typical. After the procedure has commenced, additional topical anesthetics may be used during the procedure to ensure your continued comfort.

After your procedure
After your procedure, you will be given instruction in aftercare and post-procedure photos will be taken. Often, you will be given an aftercare package that may include ice packs, eye drops, and/or an antibiotic ointment. There will most likely be some swelling of the procedural area if eyeliner or a lip procedure was conducted (eyebrow procedures produce very little noticeable swelling.) An example often given with eyeliner is that if you swell after crying or if reacting to environmental allergies, you will probably swell almost exactly that amount during/after the procedure. The day after the eyeliner procedure is normally when swelling is most prevalent. Within several days, the pigment will be healed over but appearance will soften over the first few weeks. Most patients will desire a second touchup application after 3-6 weeks for additional color.
